Robuchon a Galera, Macao

I used to visit Macau quite often as a child, but as me and my sister grew into rebellious teenagers, we no longer asked to be brought there. So it was actually quite a long time since I had set foot in this place, despite its short distance from Hong Kong. Nonetheless food had attracted me back to this tiny city that has nothing but casino and restaurants.  Robuchon a Galera is one of the Robuchon's restaurants that holds 3 michelin stars. It has recently been re-situated at the Grand Lisboa, and renamed as Robuchon au Dome. They offer quite good deals at lunch, around HKD$500pp for two courses + dessert. I went quite awhile ago, so had forgotten what most dishes were like hence the brief descriptions.

First came the bread basket that was served hot, despite being dumped on your table without any further explanation of the selection. As I can recall, the baguette and pastries were all nicely done.

Amuse bouchewhite asparagus panna cotta with tomato coulis

Le crabe - crab meat served with couscous salad, avocado cream and mango emulsion perfumed with citrus.

L'artichaut - Artichoke veloute served with smoked duck breast and black truffle floating island

Le Bar - Sea bass fillet slowly grilled with spring onion and bacon, green peas milk perfumed with mint. Ah, I remembered the strong taste of the peas, because peas are probably one of the few food I dislike deep down my heart yet would eat. Nonetheless it went well with the sea bass.

La caille - Caramelised quail stuffed with foie gras and mashed potatoes

The dessert trolley

Caramel profiterole, opera, and rhum baba.

Mille-feuille, opera and lemon cake

Cafe creme with caramelised sugar

Les petit fours.
